Not that we have snow or anything, except for a few millimeters where it survived yesterday. But it's enough to make the ground slightly lighter and when the temperature finally fell below freezing, the sun actually came up this morning. I had kind of forgotten what daylight looked like! With six hours of daylight, a thick layer of clouds really make a difference. And not in a good way. Even better, it's Saturday, so I can go outdoors to enjoy it. Even better still, I finally, after weeks and weeks (it feels) of procrastrination, cleaned my flat. No more dust from sewing. No more piles of random stuff on any available surface. My flat is visible again, and when you can see it it's actually a very nice flat. Bread dough rising in the kitchen and the house is silent. I think all my neighbours, most of them students, are still fast asleep.
I'll embark on a raiding expedition for lichens (an absolutely necessary thing, of course) shortly, get back, have a shower, make the bread and then head down to town (another excuse for a walk in daylight) to make a final effort at the Christmas fair at the castle. To be allowed to walk around in the Renaissance castle in at least an attempted Renaissance garb makes the sewing panic worthwile. Really. I hope to be able to convince the actual staff that garb photos is ok despite the general ban on photography.
So. Why does this account seem entirely hibernated? Simple answer is because I've artist's block of the worst kind - no inspiration whatsoever and eye-hand coordination back to the level of a gifted five-year old -, I've tried to get a social life, and I'm been garb-making:
I have finished the outfit to go with
fav.me/d4upfqu , though black with black makes for reaally bad photos indoors and also boooring background. Am pleased, though, and eventually I'll post photos.
I also finished and Elizabethan coif to wear today. With doublet and an odd skirt which in time will be replaced with a proper kirtle. But I finished something, which is awesomeness.
I also have a sadly neglected art-trade going with the awesome
and a commission for a portrait (iik). And my aunt continues to state that all she ever wanted for her fiftieth is a watercolour of her summer cottage. And since I can't draw houses to save myself that's an iiik too.
